Characteristics of PVDF

PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) is a fluoropolymer with excellent heat resistance and chemical resistance. Among fluoropolymers, it stands out for having the highest dielectric constant and strong mechanical strength. It has a very smooth feel, excellent water repellency, low moisture absorption, and good resistance to surface contamination.

Common applications include food processing machinery and semiconductor manufacturing equipment.

Types of PVDF

Material Selection Notes

PVDF resists most chemicals at room temperature but has limited resistance to certain substances such as acetone and caustic soda. Chemical compatibility should always be verified, and testing in the actual operating environment is recommended before committing to the material. As a high-performance resin, PVDF is also priced higher than most engineering plastics and general-purpose plastics.
